Director of Business Development, Midwest Region

The position of Director of Business Development will be based in the Midwest US with travel to destinations throughout the Midwest and Mexico as needed. We are interested in candidates who are looking for long term employment and an opportunity to progress in your career.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and sustain accounts with incentive houses and corporate direct
  • Build and cultivate new client connections
  • Develop internal and external leads
  • Arrange client meetings, presentations and site inspections
  • Manage assigned hotel relationships
  • Promote RMC through sales calls, sales trips and industry relations
  • Provide progress reports on a regular basis
  • Develop, manage, and guide sales activities for RMC
  • Design and execute a driven sales plan within a budget approved by RMC
  • Propose and execute policies and programs to achieve maximum sales volume potential for services
  • Act as main point of contact for client through sales process to include brainstorming event ideas, manage proposal requests from start to finish, as well as creating and editing proposals and contracts if needed
  • Attend events and site inspections as needed to manage client relationships and ensure operational success
  • Obtain complete and thorough knowledge of RMC’s policies, products and services
  • Attend industry events and be familiarized with the industry, hotels and suppliers
  • Comprehensive understanding of RMC software and systems


  • A minimum of (5) years’ work experience as a Sales Manager
  • College Degree BA or equivalent
  • Excellent writing skills and grammar
  • Experience working with budgets
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to promote RMC and its product to clients, suppliers, staff and the general public
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong bonds with Meeting Planners to foster open, honest and candid communication
  • Ability to work flexible hours; weekends, evenings, holidays and to travel to venue and sales trip locations as needed
  • Possess a professional manner and appearance when representing RMC with clients and supplier/partners
