This tour begins with a privately chartered boat ride across the beautiful lake to the famous Thunderbird Lodge. Built in 1936 by George Whittell, this notorious “Castle in the Sky” will give you a firsthand look into Old Tahoe’s rich history. Guests will be fascinated by the mystic architecture of this one-of-a-kind compound as they take the opportunity to tour the six-acre waterfront property, including the main house, the cook’s house, the butler’s house, the card room and the elephant house where the famous Mingo lived.
