The Art of Fly Tying

Nothing says the Wild West like catching a Yellowstone Cutthroat trout on your own hand tied fly. Helen Shaw, an American professional fly tier, defined it as the “simple process of binding various materials to a hook with thread”. Join this virtual activity and learn to tie two integral flies – the San Juan worm and the zebra midge. With thousands of fly patterns available to the tier, attendees will learn about the different types of insects (entomology), a history of fly fishing, and the different equipment and materials necessary to tie nymphs, dry flies, and streamers.
