Job Description:
The Vice President of Operations (VP of Operations) will lead, direct, and oversee the sales & operations of multiple destination offices within a specified region, ensuring operational effectiveness, profitability, and alignment with RMC’s goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role is integral to driving the overall sales & operational strategy, fostering an engaging company culture, and collaborating with senior leadership to meet company objectives. The VP of Operations will ensure operational efficiency, support talent development, and explore new opportunities to expand RMC’s footprint, and drive revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Operational Leadership
Strategic Direction, Sales & Operational Excellence:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate sales & operations across destination offices, ensuring alignment with RMC’s goals.
- Collaborate with the destination GMs to develop sales & operational strategies and guide the organization toward continued growth and profitability.
- Ensure daily sales & operations run smoothly by providing support to General Managers (GMs) and destination offices in execution and decision-making.
Office Performance & Profitability:
- Oversee revenue and profitability reporting for destination offices.
- Review office performance metrics and provide guidance to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Develop and implement cost-effective operational practices while maintaining high-quality service delivery.
Expansion & Growth Strategy:
- Research and recommend emerging destinations for potential new office openings.
- Provide insights to the COO regarding growth opportunities, alliances, and strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with GMs to explore local market trends and make informed recommendations on expansion.
Contract Review & Business Transactions:
- Provide oversight and approval for contracts, negotiations, and business transactions within destination offices.
- Ensure that all contractual obligations align with RMC’s operational standards and financial goals.
People & Culture Leadership
Team Development & Succession Planning:
- Lead, mentor, and develop GMs and other key team members across destination offices.
- Create succession plans for direct reports, ensuring operational continuity and growth.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes performance, engagement, and development opportunities.
Talent Recruitment & Engagement:
- Collaborate with HR and executive leadership to support talent recruitment efforts.
- Champion employee engagement initiatives that reinforce RMC’s values and culture across all offices.
- Conduct office visits to engage with staff, review operational performance, and ensure alignment with company culture.
Operational Improvement & Innovation
Process Optimization:
- Identify, champion, and drive processes, technologies, and training to improve sales & operational efficiency and streamline workflows across destination offices.
- Collaborate with other divisions to execute the company’s goals and objectives.
Client & Partner Relations:
- Maintain strong relationships with key clients, hotel partners, and other stakeholders, ensuring sales & operational excellence and client satisfaction.
- Work with destination GMs to align office sales & operations with client needs and expectations.
Operational Cadence & Reporting:
- Execute an office visit cadence, ensuring regular touchpoints with each office to monitor sales performance, operational needs, and team development.
- Present periodic office performance reports to the COO, providing insights and recommendations to address any challenges or opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Operational Efficiency: Ensure streamlined operations across destination offices, meeting or exceeding efficiency targets.
- Profitability: Drive office-level profitability by maintaining cost-effective operational practices while maximizing revenue growth.
- Employee Engagement: Maintain high levels of employee engagement and satisfaction, as measured by staff surveys and retention rates.
- Client Satisfaction: Ensure high client satisfaction scores through exceptional sales & operational execution and service delivery.
- Expansion & Growth: Successfully identify and recommend new revenue growth opportunities that contribute to destination expansion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field. MBA or equivalent is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales & operations leadership, with a track record of driving efficiency and profitability in a multi-location setting, preferably in the hospitality or events industry.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong business acumen with experience in contract negotiation and operational planning.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel extensively to various destination offices and work across diverse teams and time zones.
- Exceptional stress management skills, with the ability to remain composed and effective in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

- Ability to travel frequently to various destination offices and event locations, often with little notice, which may include air travel and extended periods away from home.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during on-site event management and inspections, etc.
- Capable of lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds unaided as needed for event setups or site visits.
- Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including indoor office settings and outdoor event venues, in all weather conditions.
- Ability to view screens for long periods of time.
- Ability to remain calm and composed while managing high-pressure situations and rapidly changing priorities, ensuring clear decision-making and effective leadership in stressful environments.
